Columbus Base held our annual picnic this year at Fireman's Park on the South shore of Buckeye Lake. Attendance was sparse as the forecast was not promising, but the weather cooperated as it was overcast but dry. The Food was excellent and plentiful with a great time had by all.  Matt provided a boat tour around the lake for all interested. Bravo Zulu to Clutch, Galin, and Tim for planning and organizing this. Photos are posted on Flickr.

July was a busy month for the Columbus Base, on the 4'th we marched in the Upper Arlington Parade. Then on the 9'th at noon we had our monthly meeting at the Worthington American Legion Leasure-Blackston Post 239.

Three U.S. Navy leaders, including two serving aboard a destroyer, were ousted late last week, the latest in a recent string of removals by the service.

With a heavy, heavy heart I inform you of the passing of our Columbus Base Associate Life member and plankowner Barbara McCorkle. Barb, wife of fellow Columbus Base member Bill McCorkle, was one of the original 24 "plank owners" who founded Columbus Base USSVI in November 2003.

Columbus Base Holland Club Induction was held on April 2, 2022 at the Hilliard VFW #4931. Following a social hour and Dinner the following members were inducted into the USSVI Holland club having completed 50 years of Submarine qualification: David A.Creekmore, 1972 on USS Nathanael Greene SSBN-636; Charles M. Sabino, 1972 on USS Tinosa SSN-606; R. E. Hogan, 1968 on USS Mariano G. Vallejo SSBN-658; Paul E. Gant, 1969 on USS Tautog SSN-639; Kelly W. Graham, 1970 on USS Alexander Hamilton SSBN-617.
