It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of our Cold War shipmate James E Williams, MT2(SS). He qualified on the USS Atule (SS-403) in 1965. He was qualified 51 years and joined the Holland Club in 2015. He also served on Simon Bolivar SSBN-641 and John C Calhoun SSBN-630.

The Columbus Base Marched in the Worthington Memorial Day Parade Monday 30 May. Photos of the parade are posted in the Flickr Page and can be viewed by clicking on the thumbnail. Anyone having additional photos please forward to either the Base Commander or Webmaster so they can be added to the album

Fyda Freightline 1250 Walcutt Road, Columbus Oh. 43228 (www.frydafreightliner.com) completed the repairs and repainting of the Columbus Base Submarine float on Wednesday 25 May. It will be displayed during Monday's Worthington Memorial Day Parade. The Columbus Base is deeply indebted to Fyda for the outstanding workmanship performed by their craftsmen during this effort. The Columbus Base "Tolling of the Bells" diner was held Saturday 2 April at VFW #4931, 2436 Walcutt Road, Columbus OH 43228 Map. This event honors and remembers the sixty five (65) submarine losses since establishment of the U.S. Submarine Force. (53 in War time, 12 in Peace time).
