With a heavy, heavy heart I inform you of the passing of our Columbus Base Associate Life member and plankowner Barbara McCorkle. Barb, wife of fellow Columbus Base member Bill McCorkle, was one of the original 24 "plank owners" who founded Columbus Base USSVI in November 2003.
She was actively involved with Columbus Base, joining Bill to attend meetings and other events, until COVID made it unsafe for her to do so.

Barbara L. McCorkle May 23, 1937 – May 15, 2022 Barbara L. McCorkle, 84, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Monday, May 15, 2022 at Wesley Glen Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio. The beloved wife of 63 years of William G. McCorkle, she is survived by her husband, two sons, Andrew and Robert, former daughters-in-law Judith and Deborah, three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Joseph) Morrissey, Katherine, and Alexa. She retired after many years of service as secretary at Overbrook Presbyterian Church. She was an associate member of the Columbus Base of US Submarine Veterans Inc. Born in Dayton Ohio to Edward and Mary (Parker) Lentz, she was a 1955 graduate of North High School in Columbus and attended The Ohio State University. A celebration of life has yet to be scheduled. Arrangements are being handled by Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43214.
